AGBEDEYI ODIMIENTIMI DESMOND LAMENTS NEGLECT OF EGBEMA IJAWS IN EDO STATE
Agbedeyi Odimientimi Desmond who is a Principal Lecturer at Delta Polytechnic Ogwashi-Uku, an activist and a concerned citizen of Egbema communities in Edo State has expressed disappointment and frustration over the perceived neglect of Egbema communities interests by influential individuals, particularly General Tompolo and Tantita.
In a strongly-worded statement, Agbedeyi accused Tompolo and Tantita of using their influence to sway the community's voting decisions in the last governorship election, only to abandon them afterward.
"It is disheartening to see that it is only during election time that Tantita and Tompolo will remember Egbema Ijaws in Edo State," Agbedeyi lamented.
He cited unfinished projects, such as the Udo/Ofunama Road, ongoing Jetty project at Ofunama, the proposed Jetty at Ajakurama, and lack of representation in the state cabinet as evidence of neglect.
"We expect Tompolo and Tantita to use their connection and influence on Governor Okpebholo to complete ongoing projects and appoint Egbema people into prominent positions," Agbedeyi stated.
He further urged Tompolo and others with influence on the Governor to prioritize the Egbema Ijaw community's development agenda and advocate for their interests.
Agbedeyi also called on the Egbema communities in Edo State to look inward and avoid external manipulation, demanding accountability from their leaders and ensuring that their interests are represented.
Agbedeyi further highlighted the concerns of the Egbema communities in Edo State and raises questions about the role of influential individuals in shaping the communities fate.
