The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has responded to the defection of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to the All Progressives Congress (APC). PDP's acting national chairman, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, downplayed the significance of the defections, stating that the party's future is in God's hands. He emphasized the party's resilience and readiness for the 2027 elections, highlighting that the party's success will be determined by the people, not political elites. Damagum drew a comparison to Peter Obi's 2023 presidential bid, where he garnered millions of votes despite minimal backing from state governors.
