WARRI, DELTA STATE – May 15, 2025 — In a bold political convergence that signaled unity of purpose and renewed commitment toward the 2027 general elections, the Chairman of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Hon. Barr. John Obukowho Nani, played host to the leadership of the Urhobo Nation for Tinubu 2027 (UNT27) at the commission’s corporate office in Warri.
The high-profile courtesy visit, spearheaded by the group's Vice President, Ambassador Mrs. Obukome Ibru-Mukoro, was part of a strategic agenda to deepen grassroots mobilization and strengthen political alliances in Delta State and beyond, aimed at securing a second term in office for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Chief Nani, who also serves as the visionary founder of the Aghwemutuwevwi Political Forum (APF), warmly welcomed the delegation and affirmed his unflinching support for the UNT27 movement. Reflecting on his own political journey, he spoke candidly about the ideological transformation that has swept through Delta’s political landscape. “There was a time I hesitated,” he confessed. “Back then, I was still in the PDP. But today, under the All Progressives Congress (APC), we are united by a shared goal — to return both President Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori to their respective offices in 2027.”
Chief Nani lauded the foresight of Ambassador Olorogun Dr. (Mrs.) Omodoroh Adeseye Ogunlewe, the group’s President and UPU Ambassador in the Diaspora, for initiating the political dialogue that led to this collaborative engagement. Speaking remotely during the meeting, Ambassador Ogunlewe emphasized the global scale of the group’s operations, stating, “We are mobilizing in real time — not just in Nigeria but in the UK, US, Canada, and even Russia. Our mission is clear: to build a formidable base of support for the President’s second term.”
Representing Ogunlewe at the gathering, Ambassador Ibru-Mukoro reiterated the structural depth and credibility of UNT27 as an organized, multi-tier political institution. “We are not just another political support group — we are an organized movement with clearly defined structures, leaders, and coordinators across local, state, national, and international levels,” she said. “Our presence here today is a strategic pivot — to deepen alliances and expand our operational footprint in Delta State.”
Also present was Dr. Godwin Orhadakwe, Director of Communications for UNT27, who assured attendees that the presidency is fully apprised of the group’s mobilization strategies. He stressed that robust support from the Urhobo ethnic group — the largest in Delta State — remains crucial to ensuring equitable national representation and greater democratic dividends for the region.
The meeting brought together key political figures and grassroots mobilizers from across the APC and APF circles. Among the distinguished attendees were former Delta APC State Chairman and DG of the Nani Political Family, Chief Cyril Abeye Ogodo; APF National Coordinator, Hon. Blessing Akamugbe JP; UNT27 Secretary, Mr. Anthony Onyokoko; Barr. Charles Ojakovo; Dr. Godwin Orhadakwe; Chief Omojiriemu Vincent Ideh; Chief Samuel Robinson; and Chief Mrs. Happy Otojareri, among others.
As the meeting concluded, a shared spirit of resolve filled the air — a renewed sense of purpose to advance the “Renewed Hope Agenda” and the “More Agenda” through coordinated political efforts, national alignment, and Delta-wide mobilization. With all eyes on 2027, the alliance between APF and UNT27 appears poised to play a pivotal role in reshaping Delta’s political narrative and affirming its place in the national spotlight.
