Navy Storms Omadino, Uncovers Crude Oil ‘Swimming Pools’ and Sacks of Trouble!

Hold your diesel, Egbema! The Nigerian Navy is on fire—metaphorically, of course—and this time, they’ve taken the fight against oil theft straight into the heart of Omadino. The creeks are no longer safe for illegal refiners, as the boys in blue (and camouflage) have turned on the heat under

Operation DELTA SANITY, and trust me, it’s hotter than your uncle’s Sunday stew.

Saturday, May 24, 2025, will not be forgotten anytime soon in Christian Village, Obodo Omadino, Warri South-West. That was the day the Navy landed—not for sightseeing, not for fish pepper soup—but to burst one of the boldest illegal bunkering operations in recent times. And burst it, they did!

They didn’t find a little backyard setup, no. This wasn’t somebody boiling crude in a cooking pot under the mango tree. No sir! What they found was enough to make OPEC jealous:
Seven large dugout pits filled with suspected stolen crude oil and numerous giant sacks—not filled with rice or beans for the market—but brimming with thick, black trouble.

Let’s put it this way: if oil thieves had a theme park, this would be the main attraction. Slides not included.

And if you thought this was a one-off, think again. Just days before, the same Navy team uncovered a similar illegal refinery just around the corner in Omadino—this one complete with a refining oven, five pits, and, yes, more sacks of stolen crude than the back of a Delta truck during oil boom days.

But here’s the real twist: while these discoveries were being made, some top Itsekiri voices were busy granting interviews and issuing statements: “There is no bunkering in our land!” they said. “These allegations are false!” they insisted.

Well, someone should kindly explain how crude oil sacks and dugout pits developed legs and strolled into Christian Village, because the Navy didn’t dig them, that’s for sure.

As the operation unfolded, local residents peeped from their windows and huts. Some were shocked, others not so much. One fisherman was overheard muttering, “I don dey see strange oil movement for night since last year, but who go talk?”

Even the environment seemed relieved. Our correspondent, brave enough to tiptoe near one of the pits (with mosquito repellent in hand), noticed the mangroves appeared greener—like they finally had a break from years of crude oil harassment.

Speaking on the operation, a Navy spokesman (who remained anonymous because he's clearly not here for jokes), declared:

“This is just the beginning. Operation DELTA SANITY will not stop until every illegal refinery is brought down and those responsible are held accountable. This is about national security, economic survival, and environmental protection.”

And to the perpetrators, wherever they may be hiding now: the Navy has this message—"you can run, but you can’t hide. And please stop digging pits like you’re looking for ancient treasure. This is 2025, not Indiana Jones!"

Final word from this newsroom?
Keep your oil legal, your pits filled with water not crude.
