A native of the Egbema and Gbaramatu Kingdoms in Delta State, Nigeria, Fetimi’s early life was shaped by both cultural heritage and personal challenges. Initially disinterested in formal education, it was the encouragement of a dedicated female teacher and his elder brother that ignited a passion for learning.

Fetimi's life changed dramatically when he received a scholarship from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) to study Marine Engineering at the University of Cebu in the Philippines.

Academic Excellence and Record-Breaking Achievement

At the University of Cebu, Fetimi quickly distinguished himself through discipline and academic brilliance. In 2019, he graduated with the highest honors—Summa Cum Laude—becoming the university’s best graduating student. In doing so, he broke a 55-year academic record, outshining thousands of international students and earning global recognition.

Pursuit of Advanced Research

Following his undergraduate success, Fetimi was awarded a direct-entry PhD scholarship in Naval Architecture, Ocean, and Marine Engineering at the prestigious University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. This rare opportunity bypassed the conventional requirement for a master’s degree and positioned him among elite global scholars in his field.
