Turn the Horn
“Turn the Horn” – A Speech on Courage in the Face of Overwhelming Odds
Ladies and gentlemen,
By Egbema Egberi Media special correspondent
There comes a moment in every life when the odds are against you. When the world sees you as the prey. When challenges, setbacks, and predators — be they people, problems, or pain — leap at you with claws sharpened and confidence high.
And in that moment, you have two choices: fall… or fight.
Let me tell you about the wildebeest — not the fiercest, not the fastest, not the most feared in the wild. But on this day, it was the most fearless.
A leopard — agile, experienced, a master of the hunt — thought this would be just another easy kill. It pounced. It attacked. It sank its claws with the arrogance of one who had never lost.
But the wildebeest had something the leopard did not expect — the will to turn.
It twisted. It planted its feet. And with one mighty thrust of its horn, it drove back the very beast that thought the fight was already won. In that instant, the victim became the victor. The hunted became the hero. Not because it was stronger, but because it refused to be defined by fear.
That, my friends, is life.
You will be underestimated. You will be attacked by doubt, by failure, by fear, and sometimes even by those around you who think they know your limits. But you are not here to be easy prey. You are not here to surrender.
You are here to fight back.
So when life leaps at you… turn the horn.
When you feel cornered… turn the horn.
When everything says "you can’t"… turn the horn and show them you can.
Because true power is not in never being attacked — it is in refusing to fall quietly.
Fight for your dream. Fight for your dignity. Fight for your destiny.
Be the wildebeest the world didn’t see coming.
Thank you.
