In a significant development regarding the alleged certificate racketeering saga involving Delta State Polytechnic, Ogwashi-Uku (DSPG), recent findings by the Nigeria Police Force have absolved the institution's leadership and key officials from any wrongdoing.
According to Professor Achuenu, the Rector of DSPG, the outcome of the police investigation has confirmed what the management had consistently maintained — there was no institutional involvement in the alleged racketeering case. He further clarified that neither the office of the Registrar nor any member of the top academic administration was implicated in the scandal.
“The result of the Police investigation is obvious,” Prof. Achuenu stated in a message made available to Global Egberi Media International. “There is no institutional involvement, and no Registrar is involved in the matter.”
This statement comes after weeks of public scrutiny and speculative narratives surrounding the integrity of DSPG's academic certification processes. While the investigation stemmed from reports and complaints allegedly linked to some non-official actors or individuals misrepresenting the institution, the final police report has restored public confidence in the Polytechnic’s official certification structure.
Stakeholders and members of the academic community have applauded the transparent handling of the situation by both the Polytechnic’s management and the Nigerian Police, urging the public to rely on verified facts rather than speculation when engaging with such sensitive issues.
It is worth noting that DSPG has a robust internal process for issuing academic results and certificates, supervised by departmental exam officers, academic boards, and the Registry, which maintains the records. According to insiders familiar with the system, certificate forgery, where it occurs, is often external and not a result of institutional failure.
As investigations close and facts emerge, it becomes imperative for media and citizens alike to remain committed to truth and accountability while upholding the integrity of public institutions such as DSPG.
