The long-standing land dispute between Ogbinbiri and Ogbudugbudu communities has entered a critical stage as respected community figure, Chief Ambassador Ebi Eyenmi JP, has called on High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) to intervene immediately and prevent an impending crisis.

In a video message now circulating across the region, Chief Ambassador Ebi Eyenmi expressed deep distress over the growing destruction of farmlands and ancestral properties, warning that the situation is “almost getting out of hand.”

“Tompolo Must Come and See Things Himself,” Chief Eyenmi Declares

Chief Ambassador Ebi Eyenmi stressed that the ongoing peace effort would collapse unless Tompolo personally visits Ogbinbiri to observe the level of damage firsthand.

“We need Tompolo to come physically. Things are getting worse by the day. Let him come and see what is happening before this situation escalates beyond control,” he said.

According to him, the destruction of economic trees, crops, and inherited family lands has left many households devastated, with tensions steadily rising.

Destruction of Ancestral Properties Raising Alarm

Chief Eyenmi noted that farmlands belonging to generations of Ogbinbiri families are being destroyed in the course of the dispute.

Affected areas include:

  • Cassava farms

  • Plantain plantations

  • Palm trees

  • Cocoa stands

  • Indigenous crops

  • Fish ponds and wetlands

“These farmlands were not just cultivated yesterday. They represent decades of hard work, identity, and history,” Chief Eyenmi emphasized.

Situation “About to Escalate” if Not Addressed Quickly

The community leader warned that while Ogbinbiri people have exercised patience in respect to Tompolo’s earlier call for peace, the continued aggression has pushed the situation close to breaking point.

“Women are already protesting. If the men join, it will become something else. That is why we are calling for this intervention now—not later,” he stated.

Call for Truth, Fairness, and Lasting Resolution

Chief Ambassador Ebi Eyenmi emphasized that Ogbinbiri is not seeking conflict but justice rooted in ancestral truth.

“Tompolo is known for fairness. Let him come, see things for himself, and bring a final settlement so peace can reign,” he added.

Neutral Editorial

The message from Chief Ambassador Ebi Eyenmi JP underscores the escalating tension in the Ogbinbiri–Ogbudugbudu region. Land disputes in the Niger Delta often become volatile when left unattended, and early intervention is critical.

A fair, transparent, community-inclusive assessment by Tompolo could de-escalate tensions and prevent further destruction. The safety of farmlands, community inheritance, and regional peace now rests on timely mediation.
