Exactly one year after assumption of office, the administration of High Chief Caleb Ebimobowei Molos has presented what it describes as a people-centered stewardship anchored on service delivery, administrative reforms, infrastructure renewal, and grassroots empowerment in Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Sworn in on February 17, 2025 by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa at the International Culture and Events Centre—popularly known as “The Dome”—the Molos administration stepped into office with a promise to deliver governance that reflects Jeremy Bentham’s philosophy of “the greatest happiness for the greatest number.”

Three hundred and fifty-six days later, the scorecard reveals a deliberate focus on institutional strengthening, infrastructural intervention, and social welfare expansion.

Strengthening Governance and Administrative Efficiency

A major pillar of the administration’s first-year strategy has been improving the operational capacity of the local government.

To enhance efficiency and mobility:

  • Official vehicles were procured for the Chairman and Vice Chairman.

  • Principal officers of the Council received official vehicles to boost administrative coordination.

  • A brand-new legislative bus was purchased to facilitate oversight functions of lawmakers.

  • An 18-seater NULGE bus was provided to improve staff mobility and welfare.

These investments, according to Council sources, are aimed at ensuring smoother governance processes and better service delivery across riverine and hard-to-reach communities within Ese-Odo.

In addition, the Chairman’s residence in Igbekebo underwent renovation, while solar-powered lighting systems were installed at the NDDC Quarters for principal officers. This intervention eliminated the previous practice of renting residential apartments in Irele, thereby reducing recurring expenditures and promoting long-term cost efficiency.

Empowering Traditional Institutions

Recognizing the critical role of traditional leadership in grassroots development and conflict resolution, the administration provided 16 vehicles to traditional rulers across the Council area.

This move is seen as a strategic effort to strengthen community governance, enhance mobility for traditional authorities, and deepen collaboration between the Council and indigenous institutions.

Infrastructure Development Across Communities

Infrastructure renewal has featured prominently in the administration’s first year.

Market and Road Development

  • Construction of 30 open shops at Agadagba-Obon Main Market to stimulate local commerce.

  • Approval for the construction of a 1-kilometre road at Agadagba-Obon Main Market.

These projects are expected to improve trade activities, ease transportation challenges, and enhance economic vibrancy within the local government.

Footbridge Construction

  • Ongoing construction of a 500-metre footbridge at Opuba, aimed at improving connectivity and safe passage for residents, particularly during flooding and high-tide seasons common in riverine settlements.

Solar Electrification and Street Lighting

In a clear commitment to renewable energy solutions and community safety:

  • Solar-powered street lights were installed at Akpata.

  • Solar-powered street lights were installed at Inikorogha.

  • Solar-powered electricity was installed at the ICT Centre in Igbobini.

These interventions have not only improved nighttime security but have also extended economic and social activities beyond daylight hours.

Social Welfare and Grassroots Empowerment

The Molos administration also prioritized vulnerable groups and grassroots political structures.

  • 300 elderly citizens across the Council area benefited from comprehensive social welfare packages.

  • Over 200 individuals received financial assistance between October 2025 and January 2026 as part of empowerment initiatives targeting local party structures and community stakeholders.

Observers describe this as a dual strategy—combining humanitarian outreach with political inclusion to ensure broad-based participation in governance.

A Year of Consolidation and Forward Vision

While acknowledging initial administrative hurdles, the Molos-led government maintains that the first year has laid a solid foundation for accelerated development.

From governance reforms and infrastructural renewal to renewable energy adoption and social welfare expansion, the administration’s stewardship reflects a structured attempt to balance political leadership with tangible community impact.

As Ese-Odo marks this one-year milestone, expectations remain high among residents for continued transformation, especially in road connectivity, economic expansion, healthcare delivery, and educational infrastructure.

For now, the administration insists that its guiding philosophy remains unchanged: delivering measurable dividends of democracy to the people of Ese-Odo.
