This high-level courtesy visit served as a strategic alignment meeting, aimed at fostering stronger ties between federal representatives, regional influencers, and interventionist agencies tasked with sustaining peace and progress in the oil-rich but often troubled Niger Delta region.

Speaking at the meeting, Chief Dr. Otuaro expressed deep appreciation for the show of solidarity and described the visit as “a demonstration of collective ownership of the peace and reintegration process.” He reiterated the importance of the PAP in stabilizing post-conflict communities and outlined new areas of collaboration with lawmakers and NDDC stakeholders to enhance vocational training, educational empowerment, and economic reintegration of ex-agitators and youths in the region.

Rt. Hon. Julius G. Pondi, in his remarks, emphasized the urgent need for synergy between the National Assembly, PAP, NDDC, and community leaders to design homegrown solutions for the region’s unique challenges. “We must work hand-in-hand with institutions like PAP to not only sustain peace but to give our people a clear and productive pathway to prosperity,” he stated.

On his part, Rt. Hon. Donald K. Ojogo, a former Information Commissioner in Ondo State, noted that the visit was driven by a shared passion for sustainable development in Ilaje/Ese-Odo and the broader Niger Delta. He praised Chief Otuaro’s inclusive leadership and encouraged a more decentralised and accessible outreach of the programme's benefits to riverine communities.

Hon. Otito Atikase, the NDDC Commissioner for Ondo State, expressed optimism over the renewed momentum for grassroots empowerment. He advocated for inter-agency synergy to avoid duplication of efforts and ensure maximum impact. High Chief Idowu Asonja rounded off the visit with a passionate call for deliberate youth-targeted programmes, especially in hard-to-reach coastal communities.

The meeting, which held behind closed doors after the media briefing, ended with firm assurances of ongoing dialogue, stronger engagement, and visible community impact initiatives across the region.
