Endorsement of Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s Leadership – A New Era for the Presidential Amnesty Program
Endorsement of Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s Leadership
A New Era for the Presidential Amnesty Program
By Mr. Taye Amaebimo, Second Phase Leader under the Presidential Amnesty Program
Niger Delta – August 2025 — In a bold and heartfelt declaration of solidarity, Mr. Taye Amaebimo, a respected Second Phase leader under the Presidential Amnesty Program (PAP), has officially thrown his weight behind the leadership of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, the current Interim Administrator of the program. His endorsement, shared in a public communiqué, reflects a growing sentiment of renewed confidence in the Amnesty Office and its strategic direction.
A Turning Point in the Presidential Amnesty Program
According to Mr. Amaebimo, the Amnesty Program under previous administrations had suffered from a troubling mix of mismanagement, neglect, and conflicting interests that weakened its original mission—to rehabilitate and reintegrate ex-agitators across the Niger Delta.
“For over a decade, I have witnessed the program’s struggles under previous administrations, marked by a lack of interest in the people it serves, conflicting ideas, and neglect of its core objectives,” he stated.
However, under the current leadership of Dr. Dennis Otuaro, Mr. Amaebimo affirms that the program has taken a significant turn for the better.
Hallmarks of Otuaro’s Leadership: Transparency, Impact, and Vision
Mr. Amaebimo highlighted two key areas where Dr. Otuaro has already made significant strides:
- Transparent Scholarship Deployment System: The new administration has brought intellectual integrity and transparency into the scholarship award process. This development addresses longstanding grievances over favoritism and lack of accountability in previous years.
- Leadership Empowerment Training: The empowerment sessions are not only impactful and informative but also include one-on-one interactive training modules that foster leadership development, regional unity, and a shared vision of progress.
“These trainings are impactful, informative, and feature one-on-one interactive sessions that foster development, unity, and progress in our region,” he wrote.
A Call for Peace, Unity, and Diplomacy
As tensions rise in some quarters, often leading to disruptive protests, Mr. Amaebimo urges fellow leaders and communities to embrace peaceful dialogue and reject violent dissent.
“I urge leaders and communities in the Niger Delta to support Dr. Otuaro’s leadership and reject unnecessary protests that breed violence and disunity,” he emphasized.
He added that internal diplomacy and constructive engagement remain the most viable approaches to resolving grievances and advancing the collective interests of ex-agitators and the Niger Delta at large.
A Strategic Appeal for Tools and Support
In a forward-looking recommendation, Mr. Amaebimo also called on the Amnesty Office to equip leaders with basic tools such as laptops to improve participation in training, enhance communication, and strengthen leadership accountability.
“To enhance the effectiveness of our training programs, I also appeal to the Amnesty Office to equip leaders with essential tools, such as laptops,” he said.
A New Chapter for the Niger Delta
This message by Mr. Amaebimo represents more than a personal endorsement—it echoes a growing regional consensus that under Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, the Presidential Amnesty Program is gradually reclaiming its lost glory.
As calls for strategic reform and sustainable peace intensify, Mr. Amaebimo’s voice adds weight to the movement for institutional revival, empowerment of youth leaders, and inclusive dialogue in charting the way forward for the Niger Delta.
