Prophet John Tunke Bisina Urges Christians to Stand Strong in Seasons of Suffering

Biblical Foundation for Endurance

Speaking from 2 Corinthians 4:7–18, the preacher reminded the congregation that the Christian life is not exempt from hardship. Drawing from the life of Jesus Christ, who “learned obedience by the things He suffered” (Hebrews 5:8), Prophet Bisina emphasized that believers are called to follow His example, even in pain.

He quoted 2 Timothy 3:12, stating: “All who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution,” and urged Christians to accept suffering not as a punishment, but as a refining process that shapes spiritual maturity.

Forms and Purpose of Suffering

The preacher outlined the various forms of suffering believers may encounter — from ridicule, rejection, and false accusations to persecution, loss, or even death. “Despite the diversity of trials, God allows them for a purpose,” he said, stressing that such experiences can strengthen faith, develop patience, and glorify God’s name.

Referencing the trials of Job (Job 42:10–12), he highlighted how endurance can lead to restoration, blessings, and even promotion in life. “Through trials, the believer’s faith is tested and proven genuine,” he added.

Keys to Standing Strong

Prophet Bisina encouraged believers to find strength through unwavering dependence on God’s grace and constant meditation on His Word. He pointed to Hebrews 12:2–3, urging the faithful to keep their eyes on Jesus, who endured the cross for the joy set before Him.

“Maintain courage, keep your faith alive, and obey God’s will,” he said. “In adversity, do not lose your integrity or joy. Continue to love, forgive, pray, and focus on the eternal reward.”

Eternal Reward for Endurance

The message concluded with Apostle Paul’s assurance in Romans 8:18: “The sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Prophet Bisina reassured believers that trials are temporary, but the reward in Christ is eternal — a “crown of life” as promised in James 1:12 and Revelation 2:10.
