Benin City, Edo State – August 26, 2025.

The Niger Delta Joint Ex-Agitators’ Forum (NDJEAF) has lauded the proactive efforts of the Egbema Youth Council (EYC) Worldwide and the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in opening a new chapter of dialogue and understanding over the long-abandoned Udo/Ofunama Road project.

In a fresh statement signed by Double Prince Godwin Tamaramieyeseiya, National President of NDJEAF, and Hon. Comrade Cletus Iniovosa Omerhiowa, National Secretary, the Forum praised the EYC for what it described as “a disciplined, strategic and people-oriented approach” in presenting the grievances of the Egbema people to the appropriate authorities.

🔹 Recognition of Youth Leadership
NDJEAF emphasized that the EYC Worldwide has proven itself as a responsible and visionary leadership body that genuinely seeks the development of Egbema Kingdom rather than pursuing narrow interests.

“The Egbema Youth Council has acted in the true spirit of peace, maturity, and unity. Their voice was not raised to threaten instability but to demand justice with dignity. We commend them for standing firm for our people,” the Forum declared.

🔹 Commendation for NDDC
The Forum also extended warm appreciation to the management of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), led by Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, for granting audience to the youth body and demonstrating readiness to address the long-standing demands of Egbema communities.

“This is the kind of responsive leadership we have long prayed for. By acknowledging the cries of the Egbema people and signaling willingness to revisit the abandoned road, the NDDC has restored a measure of hope to our people,” the statement read.

🔹 Assurance of Peace and Security
Most importantly, NDJEAF gave a strong assurance to the NDDC and other stakeholders that Egbema Kingdom remains peaceful, stressing that the people are committed to ensuring that contractors and workers who will be mobilized to site enjoy maximum security and cooperation.

“Our commitment to peace is total. We hereby assure the NDDC and every contractor that when the Udo/Ofunama Road is re-awarded and mobilization begins, the entire Egbema leadership, youths, and elders will be on ground to guarantee a safe and secure working environment. No worker will face intimidation or harassment. Instead, they will find partnership and solidarity in Egbema,” NDJEAF pledged.

🔹 Renewed Hope for Development
The Forum reiterated that with genuine government attention, Egbema Kingdom is positioned to contribute even more to the national economy through its oil wealth, agricultural productivity, and human capital potential. It urged all stakeholders to maintain the current momentum of dialogue and action, describing it as “the right path to sustainable peace and prosperity.”

“Peace without justice is fragile, but justice with peace builds nations. We are proud of the EYC Worldwide, and we stand firmly behind the NDDC in its renewed commitment to development,” the Forum concluded.
